1. Charles Kingsford Smith
Charles Kingsford Smith (1897-1935) was an Australian aviator. He was born in St Leonards and became one of Australia's most accomplished aviators. Kingsford Smith completed the first trans-Pacific flight from the United States to Australia in 1928. He also broke numerous aviation records and played a significant role in the development of commercial aviation in Australia.

Rose Byrne (born 1979) is an Australian actress. She was born in Balmain, a suburb near St Leonards, and grew up in the area.
